David Hall
Managing Director
I was born in Northampton, United Kingdom, and whilst at school, was offered the challenge through a school works programme to design and form a company, part of which was to make a profit within the first three months. The result was Scheduled Air Travel Services, which, after just the first week had secured a number of flight bookings, making a healthy profit and some twenty years later, Scheduled Air remains a thriving company.

I have been in the Tourist Industry in New Zealand for the last 43 years and have found over the years it to be extremely challenging and rewarding. After leaving school I joined the then Government Tourist and Publicity Department and worked with them for 30 years. During that time I was most fortunate in having marketing and promotional postings for 5 years each in San Francisco and London. During the last 13 years I have worked for New Zealand Central Reservations in Auckland, Travel Time in Hamilton and for the last 3 years New Zealand Encounters in Whitianga.

I have lived in the North and South island, starting my life in Stratford, Taranaki where I lived for the first 12 years of my life. I then moved to Auckland; quite a difference for a country girl. From there I went to Nelson where I raised my daughter and son who are both adults now. My daughter has since given me the pleasure of being a grandmother of two. From Nelson I moved back to Hamilton in the North Island where I had a varied work career from retail to insurance and finally a power company. I then moved to the beautiful, calm, stress free Mercury Bay. In Whitianga I worked for a company who market an online reservation system for B&B’s for 2 and ½ years before joining the great team at New Zealand Encounters and Travel.

I was born and grew up in Russia where I received my first bachelor degree in Linguistics in Vladivostok. After graduation I worked for the consumer electronics department of Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd in the marketing department. Big hopes were laid on me by my management and I was sent to particiapte in a globalisation management course in South Korea for a year, which I enjoyed very much. At that point I realised that I like travelling and decided that I would like to travel more. After a short period of time upon return from Korea I laid my eyes on New Zealand and moved here at the end of 2000. In New Zealand I received my second bachelor degree with a marketing major. Since graduation I've been teaching business in Auckland.

I was born in South Africa and emmigrated to New Zealand with my family way back in '76. Since then I've lived in various places around New Zealand as well as spending 3 years in Sydney and a 5 year stint in London. Travel is a huge passion of mine and I love nothing more than the excitement of discovering new places. I first started working on the New Zealand Encounters websites in 1999 and have thoroughly enjoyed my time with the company.
