Lake Wanaka Regional Information

Lake Wanaka is what Queenstown was twenty years ago. It is a beautiful alpine lake with year round options for fun.

A quaint lakeside town, Wanaka offers cafes and shops, boat trips and sailing, horseback riding, four wheel ATV safaris, and hiking in the summer. Come winter, skiing and snow boarding dominates the region.

Wanaka is calmer and less commercial than Queenstown so if excitment and bustle excites you then travel one hour to Queenstown. If relaxed, less crowded, small town feel is appealing to you, then Wanaka is a rewarding choice.
